The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain has published a list of the nominees for its 2014 awards, including the award for best video game writing. It’s interesting to note that this year’s nominees for “Best Writing In A Video Game” are all indie games; in years past, the guild’s game award shortlist has typically included a mix of big- and small-budget titles. This year’s nominees for the award include freelance writer and game developer Meg Jayanth, for her work writing the iOS adventure game 80 Days (pictured). The Chinese Room’s Dan Pinchbeck was also nominated for his work on the studio’s horror game A Machine For Pigs, which he described to Gamasutra as being “about feeling that something has burrowed into your head and is just scratching its nails at you.” Rounding out the guild’s trifecta of game writing award nominees is Italic Pig director Kevin Biemers, for his work on the comedic puzzle-platformer Schrödinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark. The winner will receive their award during the Writers’ Guild Awards 2014 gala, held January 19th in London.
